  • In a 1976 interview with Time, he stated, "A small screen can never compare with a big screen."[5]
  • In December 2011, Shaw retired from TVB, stepping away from his positions as chairman, director, and executive committee member[6]

Death and legacy

  • On 7 January 2014, Shaw died at his home; according to a statement by TVB, he died at 6:55 AM[7]
  • He was a key player in Hong Kong broadcast television, with TVB becoming one of the largest stations in the world[8]
  • Shaw's death was treated by the media as the end of an era for Hong Kong cinema[9]
